The TapGenes app helps users to pick up the reins of their and loved ones' healthcare. The founders of TapGenes created this concept to help people lower their risks of health issues and live a longer and better life.
When TapGenes came to us to conceptualise their app, we were really excited at the opportunity since this was something new to us. The brief was to create the app in such a way that users of all age groups will feel at ease and be willing to answer the long list of question without dropping out midway and will keep using it and sharing information with family and friends.
The TapGenes application is a counterpart of the website version. The app basically calculates the Genetic Age and Genetic Health problems one might be prone to by asking the users simple questions. Apart from that, it creates a family tree by collecting relevant information. The algorithm of the app is such that from all this information, it can predict the kinds of diseases that a person might be suffering from at present or have a possibility to contract in the future.
After a thorough research we arrived at the conclusion that the only way to execute the brief to the T is to create a game out of the entire application. And we did exactly that.
Right from the initial screen, we kept the look and feel of the whole app extremely illustrative with custom made illustration sprinkled across most of the screens. That way, we could tone down some of the seriousness of heath problems a notch and make it more of a fun app for health information. For example, on completion of certain tasks, users are awarded hearts that are redeemable for free health check-ups or gift cards.
We added 3 parts to the application: Tap, Challenge and Transform. With Tap, the users can get to know the kind of health issues that have been predicted as possibilities from the family heath history. With that information, users can create a group for people who share a similar risk for a particular health issue. There is no limit to the number of members they can add. Users can also 'Challenge' family members to health related tasks and win redeemable hearts. 'Transform' is where users can track their goals and challenges and view their performances.
We kept the whole set of screens consistent and cohesive by adding colored icons and hexagonal shapes derived from the structure of the DNA. The layout is very unique to this application and we kept it that way so that it's fun and engaging for all users.
